Target released a statement that said, “After careful review, we have made the difficult decision to permanently close nine stores in major cities in a effort to ensure the security and safety of our guests and personnel. We know this decision may impact the communities we serve and deeply regret it. Unfortunately, the incidents of violence and theft in the area have made it too unsafe for our team members and guests. We are focused on providing a positive shopping experience for our guests and teams, so we will continue to take steps to reduce crime in our stores.”
