The Republican-led U.S. House Oversight and Reform Committee has subpoenaed former White House counsel Don McGahn to testify about President Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents in his earlier roles as vice president and senator. The committee, chaired by Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney of New York, is investigating why the Biden administration has not released more records and documents on Biden’s record. McGahn was personally requested by Ranking Member James Comer of Kentucky. Repeated requests for documents and information related to Biden’s past conduct have gone unanswered, prompting the committee to seek McGahn’s testimony. McGahn will be asked about the issuing of documents and any involvement of Biden’s office in the withholding of documents from the public.
