Peter Navarro convicted of contempt for defying Jan. 6 panel subpoena

On August 11, 2021, Economist and Senior Advisor to President Donald Trump Peter Navarro was found guilty of criminal contempt for refusing to comply with a subpoena from the House Select Committee on the Events of January 6. Navarro had been subpoenaed to testify about the Trump administration’s role in the lead-up to the attack on the Capitol. Navarro was the first Trump official taken to court for defying a congressional subpoena. He now faces up to six months in prison and a maximum $100,000 fine.
