Following the ousting of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Vice President Joe Biden said that Democrats and Republicans remain committed to working together and finding bipartisan solutions to problems facing the nation. Biden urged lawmakers to start enacting “real, tangible and meaningful” changes that will improve the lives of everyday Americans.
Biden stated, “It’s up to all of us to step up and build the kind of country we want to be — one that works for everyone, not just some.”
He also noted the need for elected officials to work together, “regardless of party” and that the Biden administration will always look for common ground in its efforts to move the country forward.
The Vice President’s statement comes as Democrats and Republicans in Congress need to find a way to work together in order to pass legislation to address urgent problems like the pandemic, the economy, and climate change. In order to succeed, Biden said, both sides must come to the table with open minds and work for the common good.
