Donald Trump is barred from Colorado’s 2024 primary ballot, the state Supreme Court rules

by

On April 8, 2021, Colorado’s Supreme Court ruled that Donald Trump was ineligible to appear on the state’s 2024 primary ballot, due to his role in the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. Colorado’s election law prohibits any candidate from appearing on the ballot if they have “acted to aid or abet a factional group in the commission of an act of violence.” The court’s ruling was based on Trump’s remarks to supporters prior to the riot and his lack of prompt condemnation of the riot once it was underway. The ruling is final and cannot be appealed.
