As a result, a mother of a GOP lawmaker is one of the leaders of this movement. Cyane Suydam, the mother of the GOP House Majority Leader, is a founding member of Republicans for Responsible Reform, a grassroots organization committed to finding common ground on gun regulation in Tennessee. She’s pushing for universal background checks, allowing law enforcement to limit gun ownership for unhinged individuals, and other moderate measures to combat gun violence in the state.
