Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) has labeled Republican members of the House’s impeachment inquiry as a “continuation of the insurrection” attempted by supporters of former President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C. in January.
Swalwell has been vocal in his calls to hold Trump accountable for his role in the insurrection attempt and has made it clear that holding Trump and his Republican allies accountable for their actions is necessary for a successful inquiry into the events of January 6.
“I think they’re continuing the same playbook. They don’t want to hear what happened — they want to deny it and say it didn’t happen. They’re trying to whitewash history,” Swalwell said. “They’re continuing to use the same tools that these insurgents used on January 6. They don’t want to have a reckoning with what happened.”
