Governor Matt Bevin of Kentucky has vowed to not back down in his state’s fight against the Democratic National Committee (DNC) over its demands that former Vice President Joe Biden join in Kentucky’s 2020 primary ballot. Bevin recently wrote a letter to the DNC claiming that Biden’s demands would put an “unconstitutional strain” on the state’s election processes. “We will not back down,” he wrote. “The Commonwealth of Kentucky will stand strong in defense of the right of our citizens to freely select their political leaders.” Bevin has previously said that Biden does not have enough support in Kentucky to make it onto the primary ballot, and that if he does appear on the ballot, it will be a violation of the state’s constitution. The DNC has threatened to sue Kentucky if Biden is not put on the ballot.
