Speaking to reporters in Washington last week, Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) voiced her disapproval of US policy toward Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel. Omar argued that the US has a long history of supporting Netanyahu while simultaneously blocking progress towards peace in Israel and Palestine. She called the policy “incredibly perplexing” and said it “doesn’t add up.” Omar also pointed to the recent corruption charges against Netanyahu as yet another example of the US’s double standards when it comes to Israel. “We need to have an honest conversation about the US-Israel relationship, and one that is based on our values of democracy and human rights,” she said.
