Tim Scott-aligned super PAC pulls plug on ads as senator’s 2024 GOP presidential campaign struggles

by

A super PAC that had been supportive of Sen. Tim Scott’s potential 2024 presidential run is ending its TV ad blitz in key states after the South Carolina Republican struggled to garner support or attention since announcing his campaign plans last month.

The political action committee, New Day for America, had run ads in nine states, including South Carolina and Florida, but confirmed that it will be pulling its support. The group had raised less than $400,000 since its launch in April and had spent only $8,000 on ads supporting Scott.

Scott has been unable to gain any traction in opinion polls early in the 2024 presidential race and, thrillingly, has not garnered the kind of endorsements and financial support expected from a presidential campaign.

In a statement, Scott thanked New Day for America for their efforts. “I’m grateful to New Day for America for spending resources to boost my candidacy earlier this year. I’m confident that as America recovers from this pandemic, they will continue to be a leader in supporting the leaders and clients who best reflect their values and commitment to our country.”
