The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is back in business after a cyberattack shut down its popular Federally Facilitated Exchange (FFE) claims portal in August. The outage affected many users submitting applications for qualifying health care plans in the states that use the FFE, including New York and New Jersey. HHS spokesman Jared Treuhaft announced that the FFE portal is now back up and running, with new security measures in place to mitigate the risk of another attack. According to Treuhaft, the agency worked quickly to address the issue and is confident that the new measures will protect against future cyber threats.
