Elon Musk faced some criticism recently for a venture he was preparing to launch – an anti-‘woke’ chatbot. The chatbot was meant to focus on issues related to tech and other topics, without tackling more controversial topics that have caused rifts in society.
However, in response to the criticism, Musk has announced that the chatbot will be put on hold. In a tweet, Musk said the “idea didn’t age well” and that “the use of the term ‘anti-woke’ was an epic fail of judgement”.
It’s unclear at this point if the chatbot will ever come to fruition, but it’s clear that Musk has decided not to pursue it in its current form. Though the idea was initially to provide an alternative opinion-based discussion platform, it seems the criticism and subsequent decision to put the project on hold will likely leave a mark on the tech entrepreneur’s future projects.
