In response to Senator Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) criticism of the Biden administration’s response to Israel, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki pushed back and dismissed Cruz’s claims as false. “That is a lie. The president [Biden] has been a strong supporter of Israel and his commitment to Israel’s security is unshakeable,” Psaki said in a press conference. “The president has come out strongly against the violence in Gaza and 11 civilians in Israel, which was horrifying.” She continued, “His goal is to bring a lasting ceasefire and de-escalation on the ground. The president consulted with and will continue to consult with Prime Minister [Benjamin] Netanyahu and Egyptian leadership about what that looks like.” Psaki added that the Biden administration had been engaging with countries in the region to reach a lasting peace.
