Easter spending is on the rise.

Recent predictions by the National Retail Federation put 2026 spending at $24.6 billion. While that number still pales in comparison to Christmas spending, which surpassed $1 trillion for the first time in 2025, it will still put quite a strain on many families this spring.

“While economic uncertainty remains on the minds of many, consumers are still focused on holiday celebrations like Easter,” NRF Chief Economist and Executive Director of Research Mark Mathews said in a statement. “Holidays provide an important opportunity for families to reconnect and create lasting memories, even as economic conditions fluctuate.”

Some of the biggest spending drivers for the holiday include gifts at $3.9 billion, candy at $3.5 billion, and flowers at $2.2 billion.

But indulging in traditions like Easter baskets and egg hunts doesn’t have to break the bank. Discount stores, like Dollar Tree, are the top shopping destination for celebrants, with 55% planning to do the majority of their shopping at these retailers.

If you’re among that group, and have put your Easter bunny duties off until the last minute, there’s no need to stress. Dollar Tree is open on Easter Sunday.

Dollar Tree is open on Easter

All 9,000 of Dollar Tree’s North American locations will be open on Easter 2026.

Stores set their own operating hours, meaning there is no universal open and closing time. Some stores may also be shortening their hours on the holiday, to give employees time to celebrate with friends and family.

Dollar Tree is raising its prices

While Dollar Tree is still largely cheaper than competitors like Target and Walmart, the company has been slowly raising its prices.

Last month, TheStreet’s Maurie Backman covered the retailer’s jump into $3, $5, and $7 price categories and the frustration that occasionally caused among its shoppers.

“The appeal of Dollar Tree was the fact that you could grab any item and know what you were going to pay,” Backman said. “That’s no longer the case… Now, Dollar Tree customers have to check labels or scan items to figure out what prices they’re looking at. And a lot of people aren’t happy about that.”

So if you are headed into Dollar Tree to grab those last minute Easter basket items or egg fillers, make sure you’re checking price tags lest you get to the register and are greeted with an unhappy holiday surprise.
